Pathways to Employability – Employability Mentor

Role Purpose: To effectively deliver the Pathways to Employability programme, ensuring participants receive tailored support and access to a range of services in line with the contract’s objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Generic Tasks:
* Meet with participants to create and deliver personalised employability plans.
* Achieve targets set by Opportunity Sheffield, focusing on successful outcomes such as employment, further training, or volunteering.
Specific Tasks:
* Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants.
* Enrol new clients, ensuring all data is accurately entered into our systems.
* Identify individual barriers to employment and design bespoke support plans, including 1-2-1 and peer group work.
* Work closely with clients to identify personal progression goals (e.g., work experience, training, confidence-building) and gather data to report monthly to Opportunity Sheffield on progress.
* Utilise systems like Iconi/Enspiro to track client progress.
* Collaborate with the youth employability hub to organise up to 4 job fairs annually and other relevant partnership events.
* Work alongside the employability outreach worker to engage participants and build relationships with relevant partners and community organisations.
Skills and Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have:
* Direct experience delivering employability support, with a strong understanding of employment services.
* Proven experience working with individuals distanced from the employability market due to various challenges.
* Excellent communication and customer service skills.
* Strong IT and administrative abilities.
* A personable, approachable, and organised approach.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently.
Location: Sheffield
Type of Contract: Full Time
Hours: 30 hours a week for 1 year
Benefits: up to 4% pension contribution. 30 days pro rata holidays each year
