Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinically experienced midwife to join the MQAS team at Queen Mary Maternity Unit, West Middlesex University Hospital. The role will be 80% clinical quality and safety and 20 % clinical. You will need to be highly organised, flexible and motivated for this demanding role for which you will be fully supported by the team and receive the necessary training Thesuccessful applicant will need to demonstrate: An ability to work systematically ensuring necessary deadlines are met An ability to work as part of a wider team but also demonstrate their autonomy in managing their day to day workload Skills to support colleagues to learn while ensuring accountability for good governance Main duties of the job The Maternity Quality and Safety Midwife (MQAS) is an experienced registered midwife who is passionate about improving the safety and effectiveness of the maternity service. They will be proactive in sharing the learning and themes from national reports and local incidents. They strive to develop practice, informing the training needs for the service and driving the highest standards of care. This role will support the MQAS team in the implementation of the governance framework across the service through ensuring high quality internal reporting and communication across the Trust and to external partners. The post holder will work with the MQAS team to identify, monitor and support risk issues within the department, and ensure the workforce take a proactive approach to mitigating risk and improving safety. The role will include liaising with families, to ensure the service complies with the duty of candour responsibilities and ensure good communication throughout the investigation process. They will organise and support debrief meetings following serious incidents where appropriate.
