Job summary An opportunity has arisen for the position of Senior Biomedical scientist within Cellular Pathology at West Suffolk Hospital. This position is fixed term to cover maternity leave, for a period of 12 months. The position would suit an HCPC registered biomedical scientist with experience in Cellular pathology, this could be experienced or looking to step up and gain experience at senior level. The successful candidate would gain experience of working within a forward-thinking progressive department, who have made substantial progress on their Digital pathology journey.Digital pathology is utilised within the department, with 100% of slides from cases being scanned and proportion of the cases being reported fully digitally. The department is also in the process of implementing a specimen tracking system. Main duties of the job The Cellular Pathology department is small and friendly. The successful candidate would be expected to work directly with the Laboratory manager and Quality manager contributing to quality work. The successful candidate would also be expected to cover and lead technical tasks and would be a key member of the team. Experience of specimen dissection would be advantageous.
