Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
The Clinical Applications System Specialist role will have responsibility for the daily management of key IT systems.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Support the Informatics Manager with projects relating to Digital Data and Technology (DDaT)
2. Responsible for support, maintenance and development of Clinisys ICE and other laboratory software as directed by the Informatics Manager
3. Responsible for support and maintenance of computer hardware within Pathology as directed by the Informatics Manager
4. Be aware of all legislation that relates to information governance, i.e. Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information and how these will relate to changes in practice internally
5. Production and development of a range of statistical information as required

Qualifications & Education
Essential Criteria
* Educated to A-level or equivalent.
Desirable Criteria
* Educated to degree level
Knowledge & Experience
Essential Criteria
* Experience of working in a laboratory environment
* Solid understanding of IT, particularly in relation to healthcare
* A solid understanding of information technology, particularly in relation to Healthcare issues, database structures and operating systems knowledge
* Experience of supporting result messaging applications (E.g., Keystone and Clinisys ICE)
* Experience of management of Electronic Patient Record systems
Desirable Criteria
* Experience of providing training to other staff groups
* Knowledge of Information governance
* A good working knowledge of Pathology services

Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS)

The healthcare sector is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
In line with other NHS organisations in the North West Region, the Trust is now passing the charge for undertaking a DBS check on to candidates in the event they are successfully appointed into the post for which they have applied.
The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £55.38 and for a Standard Disclosure will be £27.38.
