We are seeking to recruit a motivated and skilled senior administrator to provide support to the Section 12/AC Approvals Office located at Northwick Park Hospital. The successful candidate will need to have excellent inter-organisational and communication skills, the ability to work to tight deadlines and to be organised and flexible enough to work under their own initiative. A good command of written English and IT knowledge including databases, MS Excel and word processing are essential for this post. Experience of statutory applications of the Mental Health Act 1983 is an essential requirement.

• To advise doctors seeking Section 12/AC approval of the criteria and procedure.
• To scrutinize application forms against the current Criteria and Procedures agreed by the London Approval Panel.
• To conduct GMC, CRB, Royal College MRCPsych and CPD checks before processing approvals.
• To contact referees and ensure that references received are acceptable before submitting papers to the Panel members for approval.
• To advise doctors of relevant training courses which they need to attend in order to obtain approval.
• To respond verbally and in writing to doctors who have been unsuccessful in obtaining approval
• To encourage and advise doctors who meet the criteria to apply for approval.
• To provide support and advice relating to Section 12(2) issues to medical practitioners, Section 12 Advisory Panel and other agencies.
• To maintain the central database for the London Register of Section 12/AC doctors (currently over 2200) approved practitioners
• To be aware that data supplied to third parties is kept confidential and in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
