Job purpose
You will be looking after a happy go lucky 7-year-old boy who has autism and needs assistance with eating, drinking, washing, dressing and maintaining a safe environment around him. He is physically able, always on the go and very active. However, he does not speak or understand the things you say to him, although he will respond to very simple, basic information and instructions. He will direct you to what he wants, especially where the cookies and savouries are kept in the kitchen! He has a lot of sensory needs and likes to feel things.
We are looking for a carer who will enable us to go out as a family with his 2 brothers and have a social life while knowing our son is being looked after. We’d also like help after school on days where we have plans. The ideal candidate will give our son their full attention when they are with him, although mobile phones will be allowed to take important calls. Previous experience caring for children who have special needs would be beneficial.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assisting with personal care (this includes supporting with double incontinence)
• Assisting with eating and drinking
• General supervision
• Going out for a walk where possible
• Engage in activities of his choosing

Summary terms and conditions
• Hours, days and times of work: Days and times will be pre-arranged as per your availability as we are flexible. We’re usually looking for hours to be covered between 3:30pm to 7:30pm on weekdays, however the times will be different during school holidays but will depend on your availability
• Pay rate: £11.44 per hour
• Annual leave: The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work normally done during 5.6 weeks (statutory entitlement).
• Expenses: You will be reimbursed for prior agreed expenses incurred as part of the role.
• Sick pay: I do not operate a private sick pay scheme but provided you meet the eligibility criteria, you may be entitled to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP).
• Pension: I do not operate a private pension scheme but I will fulfil my statutory obligations via the NEST pension scheme.
