Position Title: Hydraulics Rig Design - Mechanical
Duration: Contract
Location: Hybrid Working: 1 - 2 days on site in Milton Keynes
Key Responsibilities - Design & Development
1. Develop concept designs, mounting strategies and integration of systems and components to meet specific testing requirements.
2. Develop detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications using either CATIA V5 or NX
3. Select and integrate components such as pumps, valves, actuators, and sensors into the testbed.
4. Ensure compatibility between components for optimal performance and efficiency.
Testing & Validation
5. Collaborate with test engineers to define test parameters and procedures.
6. Supervise the assembly, calibration, and commissioning of test rigs.
7. Perform troubleshooting and fine-tuning of test systems.
Analysis & Optimization
8. Analyse test results to validate the performance and reliability of the testbed.
9. Propose and implement design improvements based on testing outcomes.
Compliance & Documentation
10. Ensure designs adhere to industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
11. Prepare comprehensive documentation, including design reports, test procedures, and maintenance manuals.
12. Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers.
13. Liaise with suppliers and vendors as required.
Nice to Have Criteria:
14. Technical Expertise
15. Proven experience in designing hydraulic systems and test rigs.
16. Strong knowledge of hydraulic principles, fluid mechanics, and system dynamics.
17. Familiarity with simulation and analysis tools like MATLAB, ANSYS, or Simulink.
18. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
19. Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
20. Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
Experience
21. 3-5 years of experience in a relevant field, preferably within automotive, although aerospace, or other industrial sectors will be considered
22. Hands-on experience with testbed assembly, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems is a plus.
Preferred Skills
23. Knowledge of PLC programming and automation technologies.
24. Experience in model-based design and control system integration.
25. Certification in hydraulics (e.g., Fluid Power Specialist) is advantageous.
