Band 5 Rotational Mental Health Occupational Therapist
(Fixed term until September 2026)

Are you an enthusiastic, passionate, and highly motivated Occupational Therapist eager to make a real difference in mental health care? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dynamic Adult Occupational Therapy Team.
This is a rotational post based at Springview Mental Health Unit, Clatterbridge Hospital. You will have the opportunity to rotate across each of the wards at Springview, which include:
* Three acute adult mental health assessment wards
* A ward for people with dementia
* Specialist inpatient eating disorder unit (SEDU)
* A Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
What You'll Do: You will be part of a rotation offering diverse opportunities to gain a wide range of experience working with people with many different mental health conditions. Within this team, you'll play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to service users aged 18 and above who are experiencing acute mental health challenges. Key responsibilities include:
* Conducting holistic assessments and interventions, and supporting with discharge planning.
* Taking on the rewarding challenge of managing a diverse and complex caseload.
* Enhancing the lives of service users through facilitating meaningful therapeutic interventions.
Main duties of the job
You'll work closely with our Occupational Therapists, experienced OT Technical Instructors (OTTIS) and our integrated multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure a seamless and supportive care experience for every individual.

Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours/week), Monday to Friday

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Diploma/BSc in Occupational Therapy
* State Registration with Health and Care Professions Council
* Membership of professional body
Knowledge & Expertise
* Some knowledge of current best practice in OT
* Knowledge of assessment tools and outcome measures
* Ability to work autonomously with individuals and groups
* Skills in handling and moving
* Ability to support Occupational Therapy students and support staff
* Understanding of professional ethics and their application in practice
* Understanding of team dynamics Basic knowledge of health legislation and current practice, including CPA and risk assessment and management
* Effective written and oral communication skills
* Basic knowledge of the principles of clinical governance
* Training and presentation skills
* Has practically applied evidence based practice
* Evidence of research and clinical audit skills
* Experience of working with people with mental illness.

* Use of functional assessment and activity analysis
* Documented evidence of continuing Professional Development
