Job summary We are looking for a friendly enthusiastic and hard working person to work in our ophthalmology OPD.You must be an experienced registered nurse with at least 2 years experience in Ophthalmology Out- patient and Pre- assessment. You must have Ophthalmic Course and Teaching and Assessing Course or equivalent. You must be an excellent communicator as you will have everyday contact with multi-professional colleagues where results and positive achievements will be crucial. Exceptional personal and organisational qualities are key attributes in this role. The ability to supervise and coach staff will also be necessary, as will a strong focus on patient care. Main duties of the job o Manage Eye emergency over a span of shift/duty.o Use own initiative, autonomously organising own workload efficiently.o Ensure a safe environment within the department for patients and colleagues.o To act as a mentor to junior staff and students, ensuring that their objectives are met.o To co-ordinate and delegate tasks appropriately. o Supervise junior members of staff, ensuring that safe practices are adhered to at all times.o As appropriate, participate in disciplinary, grievance and absence management procedures.o Deputise in the absence of band 7.o Develop and monitor performance of junior staff within OPD and Pre assessment. o Participate in the development of staff, ensuring appropriate skill mix and to uphold agreed standards of care.
