Job Overview
We are seeking to appoint a Registered Nurse to join The Manor Community from April 2025.
The successful candidate will have an up-to-date NMC registration and be qualified to a minimum of Band 6. You will have experience of providing medical care for children as well as experience of developing and implementing medical policies and processes (including Care Plans).
Personal warmth, excellent teamwork and organisational skills will be essential to this post.
Term time working hours (Monday to Friday 08:00 to 17:00) plus 9 additional days to be worked during the school holidays.
The vacancy will close on Friday 7 February 2025.
Interviews will be held on Monday 24 and Tuesday 25 February 2025.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide medical care to pupils on a daily basis
* Attend to pupils who have had an accident while on the school premises.
* Attend to staff and visitors should they become unwell or have an accident and request help while on the school premises.
* Provide suitable treatment/advice on referral administering medicine as required.
* Complete documentation to the standard of legislative requirement by the HSE.
* Update all pupil medical records and medication details.
* Document any relevant pupil medical notes and issue these to the appropriate classes/club leaders.
* Liaise with the kitchen about special diets / allergies, document this information and ensure all form teachers have a list of their pupils with special dietary needs plus pupils issued with appropriate lanyards.
* Ensure protocols are set out for pupils with special medical needs and up to date information is kept regarding these needs.
* Have budgetary control of and maintain first aid supplies/equipment to the standard required by the HSE.
* Be professionally aware of staff medical needs liaising with HR Officer when necessary
* Maintain all Health & Safety policies, procedures and documentation relating to nursing issues within the school
* Keep up to date on school nursing procedures, liaising with other schools as appropriate
* Take a lead on all medical issues facing the school, this includes immunisation programmes, visual and audiology screening
* Enter all medical information onto School operating systems
* Provision of First Aid kits/information around the School and replacement of supplies
* Maintain COSHH records
* Prepare individual Risk Assessments for pupils with medical needs
* Communicate with parents regarding medical matters
* Work closely with Designated Safeguarding Leads and School Counsellor
* Review the school’s First Aid training needs and book appropriate courses alongside the Deputy Head (Academic)
* Manage counselling referral and process for pupils
* Induct new staff on School medical matters
* Update staff in all relevant matters through Staff Briefing meetings and INSET, as appropriate
* Update First Aid Signage and statutory requirements.
* Attend and report to the Health and Safety Committee termly
* Attend relevant forums and review meetings, such as the Reasonable Adjustments Review Meetings.
