Good communication skills are important as the role involves dealing with colleagues within the department, other health care professionals and external customers. The post involves distribution of goods to external customers (using the pharmacy delivery vehicle) and rotational duties which include distribution of medicines, ward top-up of pharmacy items, general storekeeping and assisting dispensary staff. There is a significant amount of lifting and handling in this role. Main duties of the job Key elements of the role are: Delivery driver for goods supply to and return from external customers To follow standard operating procedures and all relevant regulations in the course of your duties To notify the responsible technician of any out of stock or low stock level or discrepancy of any drug To receipt goods from Suppliers, including checks for correct specification, quantity and quality To pick processed requisitions for wards, departments and clinics and to pack ready for dispatch To deliver goods to wards and other departments To replace cylinders on medical gas banks and to assess stocks of cylinders in the gas bank store and to advise on order requirements To stow goods in the appropriate locations within the store according to the put away sheet To contribute to efficient stock control in all areas To maintain a clean and tidy environment in al areas of work and to remove waste from specified Pharmacy locations To perform stock checks as required To copy, collate and replenish standard documentation for use in any section The post involves working on weekend and bank holiday rotas in Pharmacy Stores. Summary of most important experience / skills / qualifications required: Level 2 Diploma in Pharmacy Services (NVQ) or equivalent or willing to work towards - or significant experience in a pharmacy setting.
