The Senior Estimator Contractor:
Reddbrick are recruiting for a Leading Main Contractor with a proven track record of successfully delivering construction projects across the West Midlands. Currently, they are seeking a Senior Estimator to join their team and manage projects throughout the region. Experience of Student Accommodation, PRS projects, Commercial Projects, Education and Healthcare would be desirable.
Senior Estimator Role
The Estimator will play a key role in the planning and financial management across the company’s schemes. This position requires experience in cost planning including measurement from stage 2, 3 and 4 general arrangement drawings to produce builder's quantities and compilation. You will collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to achieve optimal results.
Senior Estimator Responsibilities
1. Populating your cost plan to support development appraisals, design solutions, validation of designs and benchmarking will be second nature to you.
2. Working on a variety of tendering forms, whilst identifying opportunities to add value throughout the project process.
3. Fully engaging with the pre-construction team members will ensure you are supported both by the local Pre-Construction Manager and the wider team at Head Office.
4. Tendering and development of Stage 3 and Stage 4 design information into robust sub-contract enquiries for quotation to preparing financial information for settlement meetings at each Gateway stage including Financial Close/Contract Sum.
5. Track and report on project costs and financial performance, identifying and addressing any deviations from budget.
6. Recommend cost-saving alternatives and value engineering options to optimise project efficiency and quality.
7. Maintain clear and effective communication with all project stakeholders, ensuring alignment on costs and timelines.
Senior Estimator Requirements
1. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field.
2. 3 years of experience in estimating, with a focus on residential or student accommodation projects.
3. Proficiency with estimating software and MS Office Suite.
4. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
7. Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
8. Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage multiple bids and proposals.
