Job Description
As the Construction Projects Director for the UK, you will assume primary responsibility for all UK construction activities, and you’ll lead field personnel to meet project goals. You will take primary responsibility for site safety, and above all other objectives ensure the achievement of safety objectives on all projects. You will ensure the achievement of corporate goals and that the projects meet applicable quality requirements. You will be responsible for the construction commercial performance and contract engagement with the supply chain ensuring commercial success on the project. You will manage client interaction and will promote positive relationships. You will ensure a close working relationship and support for IPS’s Commercial/Project Controls, Design, Procurement, Project Manager, disciplines leads for the overall success of IPS business and project goals.
What You'll Do
* Supports the UK Construction Director and leads Construction Management group activities including field services, safety & assist with preconstruction.
* Supports the UK Construction Director with the establishment of goals and the development of the annual business plan for the Construction Management group.
* Periodically monitors performance versus project goals and implements corrective actions.
* Supports the UK Construction Director with the business development functions of the Construction Management group.
* Protects IPS through the application of prudent risk management techniques.
* Provides day to day direction of all Construction Management group operations including preconstruction, estimating, procurement, project management, construction site management, and construction site safety.
* Oversees project execution planning across all Construction Management group projects.
* Assumes day to day responsibility for the hiring, training, and development of the Construction Management group staff.
* Works with Construction Managers and Project Managers to resolve project cost, schedule, and quality non-conformances.
* Meets with clients as required to meet other responsibilities. Serves as a secondary point of contact to Project Executive and/or Construction Manager for clients.
* Leads the development of the Construction Management group systems, procedures, and policies.
* Reviews project performance with the Construction Management group staff and regularly provides weekly/monthly reporting to the UK Construction Director and Sr Leadership Team as per the Construction Management Framework.
* Directs Construction Management group activities to ensure the achievement of budgeted profits.
* Evaluates department resource requirements and manages department staff levels to support those requirements.
* Trains project assignees on good Construction management framework techniques and develop the skills of all assigned personnel.
* Supports project/client development process with presentations and related marketing activities.
* Coordinates with the UK Construction Director and EMEA Directors of other IPS divisions to pursue business opportunities.
* Prepares and supports UK Construction Director & Senior Country Director in preparation of Project Delivery proposals.
* Maintains personal competency in relevant professional areas.
* Maintains long-term industry relationships.
* Participates in professional and community associations.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline or an equivalent technical degree.
* 20+ years of experience in Project Delivery or a related discipline.
* Experience of construction commercial and contractual acumen relating to the role.
* Experience of medium to large scale construction projects £50m+ bringing to life from design information to completion.
* Strong technical knowledge of modern construction building methods and techniques.
