Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
Organisation:
* Deal with reception/visitor matters
* Liaising with Office Manager relating to work to be undertaken by the school office
* Assist in the organisation of school trips/events etc.
Administration:
* Maintain manual and computerised record/information systems.
* Evaluate data/information and produce reports/information/data as required.
* Complete daily school attendance procedures and long-term monitoring, assist EWO with meetings and follow up as appropriate
* Undertake typing and word-processing and IT based tasks.
* Provide administrative and organisational support to other staff.
* Complete and submit complex forms, returns etc., including those to outside agencies e.g. DfES.
* Support with school admissions ensuring criteria are adhered to correctly.
* Book training courses for staff as directed by the Headteacher.
Resources:
* Operate relevant equipment/complex ICT packages.
* Order, monitor and manage stock using established school systems.
* Support the sale of school uniform, monitor stock and place orders
* Assist with procurement
* Assist with marketing and promotion of the school.
Responsibilities:
* Comply with all policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
* Be aware of and support difference and ensure equal opportunities for all.
* Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school.
* Establish constructive relationships and communicate with other agencies/professionals.
* Attend and participate in regular meetings.
* Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required.
General statements:
* Required to carry out all reasonable duties and responsibilities of the post in accordance with the MAT policies and procedures.

Course contents
* Skilled in the use of multiple IT packages and systems relevant to the organisation in order to: write letters or emails, create proposals, perform financial processes, record and analyse data. Examples include MS Office or equivalent packages. Able to choose the most appropriate IT solution to suit the business problem. Able to update and review databases, record information and produce data analysis where required.
* Produces accurate records and documents including: emails, letters, files, payments, reports and proposals. Makes recommendations for improvements and present solutions to management. Drafts correspondence, writes reports and able to review others' work. Maintains records and files, handles confidential information in compliance with the organisation's procedures. Coaches others in the processes required to complete these tasks.
* Exercises proactivity and good judgement. Makes effective decisions based on sound reasoning and is able to deal with challenges in a mature way. Seeks advice of more experienced team members when appropriate.
* Builds and maintains positive relationships within their own team and across the organisation. Demonstrates ability to influence and challenge appropriately. Becomes a role model to peers and team members, developing coaching skills as they gain area knowledge.
