17.5% shift allowance
We are keen to employ a diverse workforce that reflects the people of Scotland. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly from groups currently under-represented, including people with disabilities, those from minority ethnic communities or from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Do you have a passion for making a difference in people's lives? Do you thrive in an environment where you can think on your feet and work flexibly? Do you have a can-do attitude with a person-centred focus?
If this sounds like you, read on: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Leader to join our Crisis Care Team which is part of the Support at Home Services. This group of services are community-based supporting people in their own homes. We are currently recruiting a permanent, full-time Team Leader to work within the Crisis Care Service which operates 24 hours per day; therefore, shift working will be a requirement (days and shift times to be confirmed).
The role of a Team Leader in the Crisis Care Team is wide-ranging and includes supporting a team of Care Workers who respond to people who have fallen, pressed their pendant for assistance, or are unable to speak with West Lothian's call handling (Careline) but need assistance. The team also responds to inactivity alerts raised from the telecare equipment where there has been no movement within a house for a specific period of time. The team also takes referrals from other professionals.
You will need to enjoy working with people, have empathy, and like a working environment that is fast-paced with no two days the same. You will also need to want to be part of a team committed to providing good quality care in people's homes.
Other tasks include conducting team meetings, carrying out staff supervision, and completing staff personal development plans to ensure fitness to practice as care workers, managing sickness absence, and taking part in disciplinary procedures.
As a team leader, you will be expected to use your initiative and take decisions within the policy framework, standards, and objectives of the service.
It is essential that applicants have:
* Experience of supervising employees and managing a competing set of demands for service.
* Good communication skills.
* Good literacy and numeracy skills.
* Comfortable/confident with a range of IT systems.
Successful candidates (for registered posts), if not already in possession of an SVQ Level III Health and Social Care or equivalent along with PDA in Supervision, would be expected to make a commitment to achieving these qualifications.
A full driving licence is required.
This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC.
SSSC stipulates you must submit your application within three months of your start date.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
