The Emergency Services Network (ESN) is a huge strategic priority for BT and our commitment to do the best for our customer and our country. ESN will be one of the most advanced Emergency Services Networks in the world. BT is proud to be the official supplier providing mission critical and trusted communications for Britain’s Emergency Services. The ESN will replace the existing Airwave network and build upon EE’s existing 4G network to provide essential new voice, data services, and critical communications services to 300,000 members of frontline emergency service users.
The purpose of Mobile Test & Innovations Labs is to design, integrate/build, test, and deliver market-leading converged Mobile and Fixed network services. The success of the function is based upon delivering stable, best-in-class, converged services using the latest technologies – transforming our network with 5G and Network Function Virtualisation. We are innovators who make future services happen. The Voice Core team supports and manages the build, integration, test, and operation of multiple Lab environments for developing and testing new services for our customers.
The successful candidate will be cleared to BPSS (or equivalent) as a minimum. You may even be required to undergo National Security Vetting (e.g. CTC, SC or NPPV).
What you’ll be doing
1. Develop, build, and maintain multiple core network Test Environments.
2. Work co-operatively with other business communities and 3rd parties to improve service performance, quality, and customer experience. Engage with project teams to drive the design, build, test, and delivery of new fixed and mobile services or improvements to existing services.
3. Drive effective incident, change, problem, risk, and vulnerability management.
4. Drive and maintain alignment of the Test Environments with the live EE network.
5. Champion and drive continuous improvement for the test, design, and operation service that we offer to our key stakeholders.

What we would like to see on your CV
1. Proven background in performing mobile telecoms support or technology networking roles.
2. Excellent knowledge of IP routing protocols and mobile network protocols, including SS7, radius, diameter, and AAA.
3. Experience of Openstack, Kubernetes, VMWare, and other cloud technologies.
4. Ability to partner with the business to understand and analyse user requirements and inform the architecture design for software, systems, and networks.
5. Demonstrable subject matter expertise in complex, technical infrastructure, products, and services. You develop bespoke solutions to meet short, medium, and long-term customer needs.
6. Exposure to mobile stack vendors (Oracle, Ericsson, Nokia, Mavenir), OSS tools and systems, Tracing tools (Wireshark, NetScout), Network Function Virtualisation, and VMWare stack, would be beneficial.

Flexible Working
This role offers a 3 together, 2 wherever working model. This means you are required to be at your contractual location 3 days a week with 2 flexible days per week.
