The Ophthalmology Department at Singleton Hospital, Swansea are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join their team to undertake an 12 month fixed term post as a Specialty Doctor to backfill a seconded colleague until March 2026. This post will be supporting various sub specialty clinics in Singleton and Neath Port Talbot hospitals and potential cataract surgery. You will also participate in the service on call rota at Singleton Hospital. Main duties of the job You will provide a clinical service, with colleagues, which will include the responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness. The successful candidate will be working together with the wider clinical team of Consultants, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Junior Doctors and other Allied Health Professionals to provide high quality, safe and effective clinical care. Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team. Working with consultant colleagues and the multi-professional team you will have continuing responsibility for the well-being of all patients under your care; allowing for proper delegation to, and training of staff. Although this postis not recognised for training, participation in educational programmes, audit and research will be encouraged and supported. There is an active Multi Professional Education Centre and Medical Staff are encouraged to use its facilities. There are also comprehensive Medical Libraries at all sites managed by Chartered Librarians.
