Job Title Investment Trust Accountant - 18 month fixed term contract Department Investment Trust-BG-UK Overview of Department The primary objective of the Investment Trust department remains the provision of high levels of service in administrative support, secretarial services and accounting information for the Investment Trusts managed/administered by Baillie Gifford. In so doing the department ensures the legal and regulatory obligations imposed upon Baillie Gifford & Co Limited, as the appointed company secretary and AIFM to the Trusts, are fully met. Purpose of Role You will provide accounting and company secretarial services to Investment Trust clients. The role will require engagement with Investment Trust Boards, Investment Managers and other service providers. Responsibilities Accounting and tax responsibilities, including: Preparing and reviewing investment trust annual and interim reports Preparing and review investment trust dividend calculations, ensuring compliance with the relevant regulatory/tax requirements Preparing and reviewing corporation tax and VAT returns Prepare and review income forecasts and other financial information as required Company Secretarial responsibilities, including: Preparing and reviewing Audit Committee/Board packs Representing Baillie Gifford & Co Limited as Company Secretary at Board meetings Preparing and reviewing Board and Committee minutes Preparing and reviewing regulatory/statutory filings Maintain awareness of industry developments and changes to the regulatory and taxation regimes under which the investment trusts operate, and update colleagues as appropriate. Qualifications: CA or ACCA qualification Your knowledge and experience: Board/client service experience preferred Relevant experience working with Investment Trusts preferred Understanding of the regulatory and taxation regimes relevant to Investment Trusts Previous experience of minute taking and report writing Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail Advanced MS Excel skills The type of candidate that we're looking for: Delivering excellence in client service will be core to how you approach your work and you will be able to build strong relationships, both internally and externally.
