Our Purpose
North East Lincolnshire’s Education Service is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, dynamic, and committed Education Welfare Officer to work with both schools and families to improve school attendance and ensure young people receive their educational entitlement.
Your Role
Applicants should have previous experience of working with families or in a school setting. The role will require the successful candidate to work with school settings across the borough, children, families, and multi-agency partners to identify and overcome individual barriers to learning and impact positively on the life chances of all our children and young people, including those in care and North East Lincolnshire’s identified vulnerable groups through training and workshops.
The successful candidate will undertake the statutory and legal functions of the local authority in respect of the requirements to deliver the statutory School Attendance duties, support attendance within educational settings, and improve the educational outcomes for all children and young people within North East Lincolnshire, with a specific focus on severe and persistently absent pupils, the attendance of vulnerable groups including Children in Care, children with a Social Worker, and children with SEND, electively home educated pupils, as well as the school attendance regulations and inclusive practice.
About You
Excellent communication and relational practice skills are a necessity as the role requires working with young people, families, and school leaders and will involve both attending and chairing meetings around attendance and the delivery of associated training materials.
