What you’ll be doing: The successful candidate would provide general assistance and support to specialists and the sale coordinator on all sale related activity. This role will provide the candidate with a solid understanding of the functionality of the Jewellery Department at Christie’s. What your day might look like: o General assistance to all staff in the day to day running of the department - answering phones, distributing daily post, department housekeeping including maintenance of department library, etc o Assist with all aspects of sale production – cataloguing property, organising photography, proof reading material, arranging the sale webpage o Maintaining sale databases to ensure information is easily accessible to department - recording details of makers, circa dates and countries of origin, categorising property by type o Assist Specialists on valuations where appropriate – conducting in depth research, gathering material, preparing images, working on proposal documents, escorting clients through the building o Assist the Art Handler to unpack and tag incoming property and check if paperwork, boxes, and other accessories are present o Oversee secure handling of Jewellery to photo studio for photographing as instructed o Assist with image management post-photography o Assist with marketing and promotion of the sale o Help prepare assets for condition reports including printing reports and taking photos o Provide support during Auction exhibitions - setting up property, attending the viewing, assisting clients to handle the property o Help Art Handler to pack and un-pack shipments o Liaise with logistics teams to arrange shipments for exhibitions or send property to workshops o Provide general support with tours by preparing lots cards and arranging printed property lists, condition reports, and certificates o Help to update excel trackers as required o Other duties as required What you’ll bring to the team: o A completed gemmological qualification, or in the process of studying towards one o A demonstrated interest in the Jewellery market o Exceptional organizational skills including ability to multi-task, prioritise and manage multiple processes o Strong attention to detail and follow-up to see tasks through to completion o Knowledge of the auction workflow and processes o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior written and spoken communication, with the ability to utilise these to satisfy clients o Ability to work collaboratively across multiple groups and sites o Ability to remain calm in stressful situations o Ability to creatively problem solve o Ability to work independently and as part of a team o Strong IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) What’s great about working for us o 25 days annual leave 1 day Birthday leave o Christie’s Christmas office closure (guaranteed between 25th Dec – 2nd Jan) – in additional to annual leave: almost two weeks to fully switch off and spend time with friends and family o Additional 1 week’s annual leave within the year of a 5 year anniversary i.e 5th, 10th, 15th and so on o Volunteering day: Take an additional day of annual leave to volunteer for a charitable organisation that’s important to you o Donation matching of up to £500 per annum to help you support the organisations you care about o Flexible Fitness Fund - £400 per year expense allowance for health and wellness related activity (taxable) o Access to world-renowned art: with regular exhibitions in our galleries to wander around and exclusive guided tours hosted by specialist colleagues o Discretionary Bonus (dependent on the business and employee performance payable in March each year) o Generous retirement plan: We will double match your pension contribution up to 5% of your basic salary (Max 10% contribution from Christie’s) o Private Health Insurance – no employee contribution needed, subsidised for other family members o Dental Insurance – (may be extended at personal cost) o Generous Income Protection Insurance in the event of accident, sickness or injury o Competitive Life Insurance policy from first day o Employee Assistance Programme – access to personal advice and support services including counselling o Eyecare vouchers (once a year) o Cycle to Work scheme o Christie’s Extras – discounts on over 800 retailers, holiday packages, dinners and weekly shops o Robust family first policy: Ø 16 weeks full pay on Maternity Leave Ø Four day week, for eight weeks, at full pay on return from Maternity Leave Ø Dependent back-up care: 10 sessions/ days of childcare or eldercare per year Ø The Stork Club: Our community of parents who meet regularly over breakfasts, lunch, afternoon tea… Christie’s reserves the right to change company benefits at any time Closing Date: 15th September LI-Onsite
