Located on the outskirts of the rural market town of Newent; about 10 miles north-west of Gloucester city, and with magnificent 38-acre site and impressive sports facilities, Newent Community School and Sixth Form Centre are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant with a proven track record. Newent Community School and Sixth Form Centre is an 11-18 comprehensive academy with c 1150 students currently on roll.
The successful candidate will support the teaching staff with their responsibility for the development and education of children within the classroom or through individual or small group support at the direction of the SENCo.
Consideration will be given to candidates who have successfully obtained the NVQ Level 2, or above, in the Learning Support qualification, or someone currently working towards this goal. The ability to work with students with EAL, BESD or SpLD would be an advantage.
You will be required:
To be able to build relationships with the students and colleagues within the school
To work with a range of outside agencies
To follow direction from the class teacher
To be proactive in adapting resources and activities
To complete relevant training where needed
To be able to work as part of a team, with excellent communication skills, a sense of humour and the ability to share ideas and learn from each other
