Are you an experienced Band 5 or established Band 6 Nurse or Physiotherapist looking for a new challenge?
Do you enjoy the excitement and challenge of long-term respiratory condition management?
Due to service expansion, Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit an experienced Band 5 or current Band 6 to an exciting specialist respiratory position within the Adult Community Respiratory Team.
The Adult Community Respiratory Team provides a range of services including pulmonary rehabilitation, Nurse-led and GP-led community respiratory clinics, direct access spirometry clinics, domiciliary admission prevention, and assisted discharge support across Birmingham.
As part of our committed and supportive team, you will assist us in working together to develop and improve the lives of adult patients with a range of respiratory conditions predominantly Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Asthma, and Bronchiectasis.
We are committed to the continued professional and career development of all staff with extensive internal training and support provided by experienced Band 7 and Band 6 clinicians already working in this field, supplemented with external training with a focus on developing the skills of the successful candidate to work autonomously in the challenging area of Respiratory.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Triage new referrals and assess complex facts and situations by analyzing, investigating, and interpreting information, exercising good analytical and judgmental skills.
2. Provide comprehensive evidence-based and skilled professional specialist Pre-PR assessments addressing individual patient needs prior to the program.
3. Take direct responsibility for the assessment of patients' physical, psychological, and social support needs.
4. Order/arrange, interpret and act on diagnostic tests (i.e., Oxygen Assessments, chest x-rays, spirometry) and take an in-depth medical history to diagnose respiratory conditions and manage symptoms in line with appropriate policy and guidelines.
Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust (BCHC) is committed to providing dignity in care for all our patients and service users across the Trust.
All staff, workers, volunteers, students, and individuals undertaking work experience/shadowing, irrespective of the role they specifically undertake, are required to adhere to BCHC’s vision, values, and professional standards. This involves working with and alongside colleagues and partners, demonstrating a duty of candour (i.e., honesty and straightforwardness), openness, and accountability to achieve high quality and the best possible care outcomes for our patients, service users, and the local community.
