Job summary
An exciting opportunity has presented itself within the Integrated Breast Service for the post of Fixed Term Specialty Doctor in Breast Surgery for one year. This will be based at Brighton Park Centre & Princess Royal with some cross site working (Chichester & Worthing), as part of the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
The role will be a full time 10 PA post with the opportunity to cover all aspects of the surgical service from one stop 2WW rule clinics, theatre support and depending on the experience some potential independent operating plus follow up activity.
The successful candidate will join a busy breast surgical service and providing breast screening to a population of over 135,000 women and receiving over 6000 GP referrals and treating around 500 new breast cancers in Brighton.
There is a stand-alone department at park centre Brighton with modern digital equipment including tomosynthesis and VAB/E.
There are Consultant breast surgeon posts working across Worthing, Chichester and Brighton. They have developed a good reputation within the Trust in terms of extending the boundaries of reconstructive expertise.
You will be fully supported in having a senior support when needed.
You will be encouraged to develop the service particularly in areas not currently catered for such as menopausal symptom clinic.
Main duties of the job
The clinical duties of the post will include the following:
o Participation in one stop symptomatic, wound check and results clinics across Brightono Contributing to the care of the in-patients and out-patients clinic at Brightono Theatre assistant - participating in operating lists, independent operating if experience allows this but under supervisiono Administrative duties associated with the care of patientso Teaching BSMS students attending the unit.
There are no on-call commitments associated with this post.
