Your Role The role ispart of Carrier Solutions UK and it's a fully depot-based position in Plymouth. As a Facilities Maintenance Engineer you are responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and safety of the companys buildings and equipment. This role involves managing the day-to-day functions of the premises, overseeing repairs, managing contractors, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and optimising the use of resources. The Facilities Maintenance Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and efficient working environment for all employees and visitors. Role reports directly into the Facilities Manager. As a Facilities Maintenance Engineer, you'll be responsible for: Building Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and repairs of the building, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and structural integrity. Perform regular inspections to identify maintenance issues and ensure timely repairs. Schedule routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and ensure equipment longevity. Equipment Management: Ensure all essential equipment, such as heating systems, lighting, and ventilation, is fully operational. Manage the upkeep of business-critical equipment to ensure minimal downtime. Maintain an inventory of all equipment and arrange for necessary replacements or upgrades. Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure the premises comply with health and safety regulations, including fire safety, emergency evacuation plans, and workplace safety standards. Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to minimise hazards in the workplace. Liaise with safety officers and ensure appropriate signage and safety equipment are in place. Vendor and Contractor Management: Manage relationships with external contractors for cleaning, security, and repairs. Assist with negotiating contracts, managing vendor performance, and ensuring services are delivered as per agreements. Supervise on-site contractors to ensure work is completed to the required standards. Budgeting and Cost Control: Assist with the management of the facilities budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions for repairs, maintenance, and energy consumption. Track expenses and identify opportunities to reduce operational costs without compromising quality. Space Management: Oversee the allocation and efficient use of space within the building, including office layouts, parking, and storage areas. Coordinate with department heads to address workspace needs and adjustments. Emergency Response: Develop and maintain emergency response procedures, including coordinating drills and ensuring staff are trained for potential emergencies. Act as the primary point of contact for facility-related emergencies, such as power outages, leaks, or building damage. Working Conditions: Full-time, on-site role. May require availability for after-hours emergency response or urgent maintenance needs.
