Our client is a Commercial and Project Services consultancy that serves the Oil, Gas, Nuclear, Utilities including Overhead Transmission Lines, Pharmaceuticals, Commercial and FMCG sectors. The Company prides itself on delivering commercial & project services to clients engaged in capital construction and engineering activities on both large and small infrastructure projects for blue chip clients, or their respective design and project management service providers.
The Requirement – South West Based Senior Quantity Surveyors
Due to recent growth and expansion, the company is looking to invest in recruiting a couple of Senior Quantity Surveyors, to predominantly be client site based.
Core Role & Responsibilities
* Provision of guidance and support to the project team on contractual and commercial issues arising from contracts, including contract interpretation, the issuance of proper and timely contractual communications, and the resolution of claims.
* Provide advice and recommendations to team members regarding contractual and legal implications of potential project strategies and decisions.
* Manage contractual risks and opportunities.
* Support the management and control of all contractual documents, including ensuring that all such documents are complete, communicated at the right level and stored properly.
* Manage the process for the procurement of work packages.
* Manage or support on the drafting, review and/or negotiation of contracts and contract documents required in day-to-day activities.
* Administrating or supporting the administration of assigned contracts in line with the contract requirements and policies and procedures; including applications for payment, change events and final account preparation.
* Liaise with and support other functions, including Finance and Project Controls.
* Maintaining records of all contract communications and ensuring that all communications are executed in line with the contractual required timescales.
* Provide support to project managers for their assigned contracts and manage interactions and claims with project teams and other project contributors.
* Monitor contract performance and make management aware of any upcoming commercial or contractual issues or deadlines.
* Oversite and production of accurate Monthly Reports as required.
* Ensure knowledge is retained and transferred and undertake lessons learned reviews to promote continuous improvement.
* Manage and be accountable for a small team delivering contract and commercial management services, including providing guidance and support to more junior team members.
Expertise
Suitable candidates will have the following experience and background:
* A BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent qualification
* Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
* Significant QS career background in the construction industry, either having worked for construction consultancies or contractors
* Must have solid experience of delivering infrastructure projects e.g. Energy, Nuclear, Utilities, Bridges, Highways and/or Rail
* Notable levels of contract management experience
