The Opportunity
You will join Arup as a Principal Consultant in our technical safety, risk, and reliability engineering team, focusing on sustainable development related to low-carbon and energy transition projects. Your expertise will help develop and grow our Energy sector offerings and team, working on a variety of projects from advisory to technical safety studies across project lifecycles.
This role is client-facing, emphasizing low-carbon energy solutions such as hydrogen. You will build and maintain client relationships through excellent project delivery and business development, guiding project teams and collaborating with multidisciplinary experts.
Ideal candidates will have strong technical knowledge, analytical skills, creativity in problem-solving, and excellent communication abilities. You should be a team player, adaptable, and capable of mentoring junior staff while transferring skills across markets.
You will be part of a passionate team dedicated to managing safety, risk, and reliability to ensure a safer, more reliable, and sustainable future.
Is this role right for you?
* Experience managing and delivering technical safety and risk projects.
* Business development skills, including bid management and winning work in the energy sector.
* Leadership in safety and risk assessments in regulated industries (e.g., chemical, oil & gas).
* Knowledge of hazard identification, fire, explosion, toxic release, hazard analysis, consequence modeling, and safety case development.
* Experience across the lifecycle of hydrocarbon/gas systems, complex systems, and major hazard facilities.
* Understanding of relevant legislation and standards (e.g., DSEAR, ATEX, COMAH, NFPA, API).
