We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, motivated individual who can demonstrate both a good level of communication plus organisational and clinical skills as is evidenced by previous paediatric emergency department experience. In addition, our department is undergoing an exciting new refurbishment which includes the development of a designated paediatric area within the Emergency Department.
Hours per week: 37.50
Main duties of the job
1. Assessment and triage
2. To take lead responsibility with the support of the Senior Nursing team to facilitate and develop the Paediatric Team's professional development needs to meet individual and organisational objectives.
3. To support the Senior Nursing Team in leading and co-ordinating the Emergency Department Paediatric Unit to ensure that timely and efficient assessment/treatment and discharge of patients whilst maintaining patient safety and delivering high quality care.
4. To support the Senior Nursing team in leading and co-ordinating the Paediatric Unit in the early assessment and implementation of safe discharge planning, utilising appropriate resources and referral systems.
5. Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and deliver high quality, evidence-based care, including maintaining high standards of documentation, involving the children, young people and their families throughout the process.
6. Develop and strengthen the skills of the wider Emergency Department team to ensure effective communication/clinical skills are maintained by liaising with the Multi-Disciplinary Team, other health professionals, patients and their families/carers, leading by example.

* Experience as a staff nurse in ED
