We are currently seeking a Buyer to join our friendly procurement team of seven. This role reports into the deputy Head of Procurement and you will be responsible for procuring goods and services for Benenden Hospital. Ensuring Procurement services are in line with the requirements of the Hospital and the principles of best practice within Procurement to ensure that the Hospital’s operational needs are met, considering price, quality, and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply.
You will be leading this end-to-end process working closely with other departments within the hospital, particularly finance. The position would suit a candidate with commercial awareness in the early stages of their career in Procurement or purchasing, working towards or willing to undertake CIPS professional qualifications.
About the role
* Procure goods and services for the Hospital whilst adhering to all procedures, policies, and industry good practice, achieving best value whilst ensuring quality is never compromised.
* Be responsible for managing end-to-end tender and quotation processes.
* Be responsible for ensuring the achievement of the savings target.
Skills and experience required
* CIPS qualified or working towards the qualification
* Previous experience of working within a purchasing team - Desirable
* A holistic understanding and awareness of procurement
* Experience of managing negotiations.
* Commercial awareness
* Excellent relationship management skills working with multiple stakeholders
* Negotiation skills and the ability to network and influence people
* Good analytical skills using management information to challenge operational and financial performance.
* The capability to work in a fast-paced environment and achieve targets
* Well organised with the ability to prioritise and manage their own workload.
* Possess an attitude of continuous improvement, keeping up to date with Industry knowledge.
* Ability to work in cross-functional teams.
* The ability to mitigate risk by always using a culture of due diligence in any task performed.
* Excellent IT and organisational skills
* The ability to undertake complex tasks under pressure in a challenging environment
* Self-motivated and with a positive attitude
