Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within the Single Point of Access enabling parents, teachers, education psychology services, school support staff and other professionals across all children's and young people's services to get easy access to signposting, advice, support and urgent care, where necessary.
The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate excellent understanding of the delivery of the child and adolescent mental health services and be able to manage and assess risk effectively, providing risk support to professionals, children and families.
The post holder will also have experience in screening referrals and decision making in terms of appropriate pathways, along with excellent risk management skills.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. To ensure high quality CAMHS assessment of children and families referred to the Tier 3 service.
2. To deliver therapeutic input to children and young people referred to the team.
3. To be responsible for and manage a defined caseload and undertake case management responsibilities within the caseload.
4. To identify and develop strategies to manage risk to the child and others in line with Pennine care and CAMHS procedures and protocols.
5. To liaise closely with a wide range of agencies regarding individual care packages and to promote awareness of child and adolescent mental health issues within these agencies.
6. To undertake liaison and joint work with other professionals outside of the MDT.
7. To provide consultation and training on a wide range of children's emotional health and well-being issues to professionals from a range of services including GP's, Early Help and Primary Care Services, Adult Mental Health Services, Youth Offending Services and Education Services.
8. To provide urgent mental health advice following triage of referrals into SPOA, in line with Pennine care protocols to both advise other professionals regarding risk and work with them to develop a plan of care for the child.
Person specification
1. NMC nursing or social work or equivalent Health/social care qualification
2. Significant post qualification experience in community mental health services to post graduate diploma level
Knowledge
1. Knowledge of mental health issues in young people.
2. Knowledge of relevant legislation and National policies in relation to young people.
3. Knowledge of therapeutic interventions with young people.
4. Understanding of Youth Offending services.
5. Knowledge of drug and alcohol issues relating to young people.
Skills and Abilities
1. Ability to undertake appropriate mental health assessments.
2. Ability to carry out therapeutic interventions with this client group.
3. Ability to work well with a team.
4. Ability to manage a caseload effectively.
