We are looking to strengthen our Estimating team with a Estimator based at Peterborough with hybrid working available.
You will report directly to the Estimating Manager and as a member of a central Estimating Team you will support the delivery of multiple projects within Anglian Waters Integrated Main Works Framework. Operating under an outperformance contract model you will play a key role in challenging all aspects of construction costs including non-construction, risk, overheads, and record for audit via the delivery milestone process and affordability challenge.
Our main work scopes include pipelines, pumping stations, reservoirs, water, and waste-water treatment plants. You will provide estimates at various stages including optioneering, outline design and detailed design, which will typically include Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation / Control work scopes.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Provisions of Estimates
Provide CAPEX estimates appropriate to the stage of the project from high level comparative estimates for optioneering to detailed bottoms up estimates for development of Target Costs. Work with multi discipline teams to understand and quantify scope. Liaise with our supply chain to develop estimates for specific items of scope.
Estimating Systems
Review processes and identify best practice with systems. Advise where efficiencies can be made.
Developing Cost Models
Develop cost models for digital delivery and standardisation. Work with 3D computer models to understand and quantify the scope.
Maintaining Cost Base (Cost base submission and verification)
Add quotations to the estimating database. Identify any inconsistencies between market quotations and our cost libraries. Revise labour, plant and material resource libraries when requested to do so.
Commercial Team & Cost Capture
Work closely with Cost Managers to ensure a smooth transition from estimating into cost management. Become familiar with the cost capture requirements of Anglian Water and in doing so ensure that estimates are coded and structured to meet these requirements.
2. As we move into this exciting and challenging period for the Water industry, it is essential our commercial and cost management processes and practices remain industry- leading to ensure we not only deliver but outperform against our objectives and customer expectations.
