About the Role
Hackney Council is seeking an experienced Assistant Director - Data, Digital & Customer Services to provide strategic leadership in delivering high-quality, modern, and customer-focused services. This interim role offers the opportunity to shape and enhance the digital, data, and customer service functions, ensuring they meet the needs of Hackney's diverse community.
You will be responsible for leading multiple teams, including Customer Services, Digital Product & Delivery, Data & Insight, and the Registrars service, ensuring that all aspects operate effectively 24/7.
Key Responsibilities
Champion a customer-first approach, ensuring 'right first time' service delivery for Hackney residents.
Lead the transformation of digital services, ensuring the council adopts modern, cloud-based technology solutions.
Drive strategic change using data insights to improve customer experience and service efficiency.
Oversee the Registrars service, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
Develop and implement policies and strategies that align with the Council's corporate priorities.
Provide leadership to multidisciplinary teams and indirectly manage over 150 staff.
Ensure compliance with regulations regarding data protection, cybersecurity, and information management.
Support emergency response operations and attend evening meetings when required (no additional payment).
About You
A strong background in leading customer service, digital transformation, and data functions within a complex organisation.
Proven experience managing large teams and delivering service improvements at scale.
A track record of working with senior stakeholders and elected officials to influence policy and strategic direction.
Strong understanding of regulatory compliance related to data protection, security, and governance.
