We are seeking a Systems Engineer/Integration and Test Engineer to lead and manage process governance and assurance activities within our Test & Facilities Capability (T&FC) team. This role is pivotal in driving engineering excellence for systems integration on cutting-edge submarine platforms, ensuring compliance with internal and external engineering and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead a cross-functional team of up to 8 engineers, focusing on the governance, assurance, and testing of high-power voltage systems, safety systems, and software control systems.
Develop and maintain governance processes supporting the entire engineering lifecycle, ensuring consistency across approximately 60 active processes.
Oversee test facilities operations, ensuring simulation rigs are aligned with process requirements to minimize development time and support sign-off for "fit-to-water" status.
Ensure rigorous process deployment and compliance evidence is available for all stages of the lifecycle.
Identify and manage risks related to process compliance, developing a risk-based audit schedule and making outputs visible across the programme.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing process capabilities and the development of new testing facilities.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with evolving requirements.
Provide leadership to the Test Facilities Group, ensuring efficient operations within the Systems Integration Facility (ESIF) that is supporting the new Dreadnought-class submarines.
Support the development and enhancement of new facilities and testing capabilities within the systems engineering environment.
Ideal Candidate:
Extensive experience in Systems Engineering, particularly in managing process governance and assurance.
Knowledgeable about high-voltage systems, safety standards, and ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 45001).
Strong understanding of software control systems and systems integration, with experience in environments such as avionics, aerospace, oil & gas, nuclear, or similar industries.
Knowledge of PLCs and logical controllers would be a plus.
Key Competencies:
Process Improvement & Development: Strong ability to develop and refine processes that drive performance and compliance.
Risk Management: Experience in identifying risks and developing audit processes to ensure compliance and improvement.
Leadership & Team Management: Proven track record of managing teams in highly regulated environments with complex systems.
Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Ability to assess current processes and introduce continuous improvement initiatives for long-term success.
Technical Expertise: In-depth understanding of engineering standards.Join us in leading the future of submarine systems engineering, as we develop state-of-the-art testing facilities and ensure excellence in process governance and assurance. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development of critical capabilities for the UK's submarine programme
