The role – Youth Support Worker
As a Youth Support Worker you will deliver a high quality and effective support service to young people which promotes the independence, wellbeing, and inclusion of service users, in accordance with Origin Housing policies and procedures, operating as part of a team on a flexible shift basis which includes some lone working.
This is a rewarding and exciting position – responsible for building relationships and trust both internally with your colleagues and the young people you support and externally with the Camden Pathway Leaving Care Team and partner organisations.
What you’ll do
You will
* Take responsibility for the provision of a high quality support service to young people who are Care Leavers and Unaccompanied Minors, under the guidance of the Team Leader and Service Manager.
* Hold a caseload of young people and deliver support to them on an individual and group basis promoting customer involvement at all times.
* Keep up-to-date and accurate records of needs assessments, risk assessments, support plans, outcomes, and case notes.
* Work in partnership with professionals from other organisations that support young people such as social care, physical/sexual/mental health, police, education, youth offending teams, substance misuse and local authorities.
* Maintain the health and safety of the building- arranging for repairs to communal areas and related fixtures & fittings, keeping bin areas, entrances, corridors, and the office tidy, controlling security to the building. Carrying out essential fire safety checks and fire alarm testing on a rota basis.
* Support young people to deal with anti-social behaviour, incidents, and neighbour disputes.
What you’ll need
We’re looking for someone who has:
* A motivational approach
* Collaboration is highly important; you’ll need to demonstrate your experience of working effectively within a team.
* We work closely with the Camden Pathway Team and external services; you’ll need experience of successful partnership working and communication.
* You will need good understanding of safeguarding young people, risk assessment and management of incidents.
* We move things forward and get things done; you’ll need experience of using your initiative and managing challenging situations and behaviour.
* You’ll need to be a confident communicator across all channels but, specifically, you’ll need experience of maintaining up to date written records, support plans and risk assessments.
