This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing provider of primary care services in Southampton, on a sessional basis. Southampton Primary Care Ltd is scoping and developing a Women's Health Hub. As part of this innovative service redesign, we are looking to appoint enthusiastic and motivated Specialist Practitioners to develop and deliver Contraception, Smears, LARC (Contraceptive and Non-contraceptive purposes), HIV testing and Menopause services in a unique and integrated way.
The post holders will be accountable for their own practice without direct supervision and will be a direct provider of a high standard of higher-level clinical practice to patients with contraceptive/menopause needs.
The post is an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, responsible for the delivery of highly technical and specialised nursing skills which will include but not be limited to:
1. Assessment and history taking
2. Clinical examination, including bimanual
3. Instigation and interpretation of diagnostic investigations
4. Identifying appropriate methods of contraception and HRT
5. Initiation of treatment and plans of care, including independent assessment for provision of medications.
6. Provision of all methods of LARC/HRT following discussion and assessment ensuring the patient can make an informed choice and consent.
7. Appropriate onward referral and support to access other health and social care professionals if appropriate.
There may be evening and weekend work required for this post.

Key Responsibilities
The delivery of a comprehensive LARC delivery service, including:
1. Follow service guidelines on confidentiality; adhere to the law regarding sexual health advice to those under sixteen years.
2. Provide a comprehensive discussion in the event of an unplanned pregnancy and refer to appropriate agencies as necessary.
3. Deliver care to patients pertaining to their sexual health needs in line with current BASHH/FSRH guidance.
4. Assess, advise, prescribe, administer, and carry out the full range of LARC procedures required by patients, following discussion with the individual as to their contraception choices, in line with FSRH current guidance.
5. Comply with FSRH requirements on updating professional practice and reaccreditation e.g., for LOC.
6. Carry out competent clinical examination of patients, including cervical and bimanual examination.
7. Maintain accurate contemporaneous electronic patient records, in line with local and national information governance policy/legislation.
Person Specification
Essential criteria:
Independent practitioner responsible for the insertion and removal of LARCs, contraception and sexual health support, including but not limited to HIV, cervical screening and HRT assessment and prescribing.
