About the role
The Senior Operations Manager at BSMS ensures the smooth running of the Medical School on a day-to-day basis. Responsibilities include leadership and management, support for all Human Resources processes, management of resources, support for health & safety, managing estates and facilities projects, updating of key management information, membership of key decision-making bodies including the School Management Group and Health & Safety Committee.
The Senior Operations Manager will support the Personal Assistant and Department Assistant team with HR, Finance, training and development, and be a key contact across the school and the divisional function. The Senior Operations Manager will collaborate with stakeholders and other colleagues across the division and the wider University.
About you
You must be able to see the big picture as well as the finer details. You will deal in small daily matters as well as being part of the strategic development of the school.
A systematic organised approach to work is vital as well as a willingness to travel to the different BSMS sites. The role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, for dealing with many types of people at all levels in a direct diplomatic way.
Strong leadership skills, including effective time management, prioritising and delegation, are required as the post-holder will lead a large team of administrative staff. You must be able to lead, coach, inspire, support and motivate your team, and always seeking to improve best practice. Having natural creative flair and being full of ideas and energy to introduce new concepts and innovations would also be advantageous. You will have the skills to manage your own workload and at times, support other colleagues. You will communicate clearly with the team, line management, and stakeholders.
