The Assistant Facilities Manager will play a central part in supporting the daily operation of the facilities, providing support to our Research Facility team and contributing to the smooth running of our labs. It is a blend of hands-on and coordination duties, within a small high-performing operational team with a values-based culture.

Responsibilities
As the Assistant Facilities Manager, you will:
1. Produce area-specific risk assessments and Standard Operating Procedures for Facilities managed areas.
2. Manage assets and build a database working in conjunction with the Finance Team, Science Facility, and Laboratory Managers.
3. Liaise and plan periodic shutdowns and Planned Preventative Maintenance with Estates Mechanical and Compliance teams and internal coordination with Science Facility and Laboratory Managers.
4. Liaise with the Cleaning contractor and Estates Soft Services including periodic review inspections.
5. Support periodic inspections (Fire, First Aid, Safety, etc.).
6. Review maintenance contracts on equipment in conjunction with the Finance Team.
7. Conduct periodic small plant and equipment maintenance and monitoring activities.
8. Induct and supervise contractors while duties are being undertaken on-site.
Other Duties:
1. Review, develop, update, and implement local policies and procedures for the department in accordance with statutory and organisational guidelines.
2. Be aware of and exercise personal and Institute responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act and other related matters.
3. Carry out any other duties as required by the Head of Facilities to deliver the wider service to The Franklin within the skills of the post holder.
4. Deputise for Head of Facilities during periods of absence.
5. Cover Goods in and dispatch during periods of absence.
