Production Team Leader Assistant

SF Recruitment are recruiting for a Production Team Leader Assistant to work for our established manufacturing client based in Swadlincote. This role would suit a candidate looking to establish themselves as a Team Leader position or an already experienced Team Leader looking to develop.
The role:
1. Manage the activities of production teams to manage and coordinate the effective and efficient planning & placement of manpower. This includes inventory control for the assigned area including all MRP movement.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Overall day-to-day running of assigned area on a designated shift in support of the Value Stream Leader.
2. Execute the daily production plans issued to the assigned area, offering support and adaptability when necessary.
3. Support the VSL & VSM to achieve orderbook requirements and Sales Targets driven by the business.
4. To ensure full loading of direct operators to maximise production output and achieve the daily plan.
5. Support the assigned area to focus on Scrap Reduction, Absence Control, H&S and Continuous Improvement Initiatives.
6. Hourly check in of plan vs actual with operators.
7. Hourly check of scrap and enforcement of stop, call, wait process.
8. Confirm tooling, material and process adherence.
9. First off checks for the continuation of product moulding.
10. Maximising the performance and efficiencies of their assigned area as well as any shared function.
11. Ensure that their team is motivated and working in a productive and positive atmosphere.
12. Promote a good standard of housekeeping and 5S.
13. Full control over production teams adhering to MIS & SOPs.
14. Physical spot checks of parts to ensure all are OK as declared.
15. Ensure all operators are aware of correct methods to ensure tooling is not damaged.
16. Deliver the start of shift briefs with operators in line with template.
17. Manage Operators in line with Absence Control Procedure, carry out RTW meetings.
18. Support within their area of responsibility, developing a safety culture.
19. Support 5S initiatives and all Lean/CI projects: Lead minimum of 3 Six Sigma/Lean events in year.
Education and Experience:
1. 5+ years of manufacturing experience with supervisory abilities.
2. Strong background in Lean/Six Sigma preferred.
3. IOSH - proven track record of improving and developing effective safety systems.
4. Degree or Higher qualification in an operational discipline.
5. Must possess strong leadership, drive, and change management skills, with high degree of integrity, energy, and standards for excellence.
6. Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must at all levels in the organization.
7. Ability to optimize and prioritise individual and assigned area workload.
8. Ability to develop data collection and analysing methods, tracking systems, & reporting of KPI deliverables (Both current and new).
9. Technical acumen to solve technical and production or process issues.
10. Ability to utilize basic Manufacturing Excellence tools such as 5S, Lean, etc.
11. Ability to engage in presentations, team improvement meetings with the occasional requirement to travel for training.
12. Strong skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook/Excel/PowerPoint/Word).
13. Ability to positively engage and resolve employee-related issues e.g. conflict, attendance, performance.
14. Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement effective control procedures (Quality, HR, and Safety).
