We have recently been named as a Delivery Partner for the Environment Agency’s latest framework to enhance understanding of climate change impacts and flood risks for communities in England. Under the 2024 Mapping and Modelling Framework, AtkinsRéalis will provide survey, mapping, modelling, incident management, hydrological, and other professional services to identify and plan for climate events. This significant program aims to improve the Environment Agency’s understanding of climate change effects and reduce flooding risks, including vital community response efforts.
As a result of this and other projects, we have UK-wide vacancies for enthusiastic and ambitious individuals in primarily technical roles.
Role: Contribute to and lead hydraulic and hydrological modelling projects.
Expertise: Proficiency in 1D and 2D modelling for rivers, surface water, and coastal areas.

Requirements:
We are looking for Associate consultants, engineers, and modelers with experience in flood risk projects, particularly hydraulic modelling. Candidates should have the confidence to lead technical work and mentor junior team members, building strong client relationships through collaborative skills.
* Experience: Extensive experience in flood risk analysis for strategy, planning, development, or design, with a proven track record of project delivery and client satisfaction.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in 1D-2D modelling tools such as Infoworks ICM, Flood Modeller, TUFLOW/ESTRY, or HEC-RAS; GIS skills with ArcGIS, MapInfo, or QGIS; desirable experience with FEH hydrological assessment and UK hydrology.
* Leadership: Some experience in leading technical teams.
* Decision-Making: Ability to make robust decisions based on available data.
Chartered status is highly valued. We support professional development and membership acquisition through mentoring and training.
Desirable but not essential is civil engineering design experience related to flood management.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct hydraulic modelling, data analysis, GIS, and technical reporting, ensuring quality assurance.
* Manage and supervise junior staff, support project managers, and actively progress multiple projects.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide integrated client services.
* Support business development through tendering, stakeholder engagement, and scope management.
* Contribute to the development of the Flood Risk Team via technical networks.
