This position is predominantly in support of the SV contract with involvement in other strategic initiatives RMMV in the Defence UK market that are of similar complexity within the logistic vehicle businesses.
The Commercial Manager has responsibility for leading and managing the commercial aspects of the Support Vehicle Con RMMV. This position will be responsible for all contract and subcontract negotiations, drafting and management, preparing proposals including pricing models and maintaining a lead role on bids together with the ongoing management of the contract documents through the life of the contract.
Position Responsibilities:
* Management and Leadership of the contracts;
* Keeping the team abreast of business activity and project priorities and outcomes;
* Providing oversight and guidance on all commercial and contractual matters to relevant projects;
* Represent RMMV-UK (or RDUK as appropriate), as the commercial lead, in contract negotiations with customers and suppliers;
* Providing direct commercial support and advice to the business and projects;
* Placement and management of internal contracted support contracts;
* Advising the commercial policy, procedures and work instructions for application by the business and projects. This includes responsibility for the identification, drafting and ensuring adherence to contractual terms;
* Report as necessary on any commercial related activities, including governance and performance;
* Protect the interests of the company to meet and maintain its governance, legal and regulatory obligations and be the commercial interface, including reporting as necessary, to the Head of Commercial RMMV-UK/ RDUK and Senior Legal Counsel Rheinmetall AG;
* Source and coordinate all legal advice in respect of contracts within your control and act as the single point of contact with in-house legal counsel and in-house compliance staff;
* Lead the development of commercial tender bid documentation or ‘Red Team Review’ as appropriate;
* Responsibility for the placement and management of sub-contracts functions to ensure comprehensive flow down and coverage;
* Drafting, reviewing and/or approving any significant contract change proposals or tenders;
* Providing oversight and guidance on all commercial and contractual matters, including significant changes and disputes, to all business units and projects; and input to budget development activities.
Defence Security:
* Develop and implement the security policy, in accordance with UK Security Vetting (UKSV);
* Manage all security clearances issued to personnel by the UKSV;
* Ensure personnel adhere to their security clearance (level) obligations and promote a security awareness environment;
* Conduct investigations as necessary for any security incidents;
Commercial Risk & Compliance Governance and Export/Import Control Compliance:
* Ensure compliance to the company’s Export/Import framework in accordance with UK regulations, Rheinmetall AG policy and taking account of ITAR and EU controls, and educate the business on their obligations;
* Ensure the business’ risk/compliance functions comply with the organisation’s legislative and regulatory framework, along with internal operational requirements;
* Identify and update management on any risk/compliance and Export/Import issues and the management of the risks within the business;
* Other duties as directed by the line manager.

Skills & Experience
Required:
* A high calibre candidate with significant strategic experience in Commercial Management within a large, complex multi-national organisation.
* Extensive experience in leading and/or the delivering commercially focused solutions and robust contractual outcomes;
* Tertiary qualifications in Law, business or a related discipline desirable;
* Demonstrated leadership experience with a strong team orientation, and the ability to inspire others.
* High level communication and influencing skills and the ability to lead discussions and negotiate complex commercial outcomes with a strong presence.
* Knowledge and understanding of risk and compliance frameworks;
* Knowledge and understanding of the Defence Security processes for maintaining security clearances desirable;
* UK Citizen with the ability to attain a security clearance.
* Experience in commercial project delivery within a highly regulated environment such as Defence will be advantageous;
* A high involvement in managing key Government contracts for an OEM would be advantageous.
* The ability to speak German desirable.
