Spring Hill School is situated in the outskirts of Ripon, in the beautiful county of North Yorkshire with easy access to the Yorkshire Dales and seaside towns such as Whitby. The site covers over 30 acres and offers fantastic facilities for learning and leisure. The location of our school allows our children and young people to take advantage of being close to the local community to develop important life and social skills.
Spring Hill School supports students aged 8-18 with a primary diagnosis of Autism. Some of our young people have associated Mental Health and Complex Needs and come to Spring Hill to gain valuable guidance, life skills, qualifications and confidence to support their journey towards independence.
The Role
The successful candidate will be required to work within our residential setting providing guidance, support and encouragement to our young people, working closely with the Residential Support Workers and our MDT.
The job involves providing the level of support needed for our young people to develop their independence and prepare them for the future. The role is about working as part of a team to maintain a stable, nurturing and caring environment that puts the health, safety and welfare of our young people first.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Do everything possible to maintain a safe, clean and enjoyable environment to live and work in, this will involve some domestic duties.
Understand individual’s specific needs and help meet those needs in the most appropriate way following all policies and procedures.
Assist our young people with their medical and welfare needs and to report as required, which may include the administration of emergency ‘when required’ medication.
Support our young people to maintain their personal cleanliness, general hygiene and appearance. This may include personal care, following individual care plans.
Keep up to date with all communication/information systems and attend and take an active part in meetings as appropriate. Also keep accurate reports and written records for monitoring purposes as required.
Promote equality, acknowledging individual differences and uphold the rights and responsibilities of our young people and staff.
Support our young people when preparing for and undergoing any transfer from one residential setting to another.
Person Specification
Awareness of the health, safety and welfare of young people.
Awareness of how young people develop and learn
To be able to communicate clearly and easily with young people and others in a variety of ways.
Have an NVQ 3 or Diploma Level 3 or be able to achieve this within 2 years of employment in care.
Ability to drive school vehicles.
To use IT effectively.
