Product Definition Engineer

Job Description
As a Product Definition Engineer your main task will be to produce and (where adequate capability has been demonstrated) check Component definitions (such as Model Based Definitions - MBDs) in line with Engineering Standards to meet design intent, satisfying fit, form and function of the component whilst optimising for manufacture.
What you will be doing
1. Prepare, develop, and maintain the 3D master CAD model, definition (MBD/technical drawing) and relevant documentation in accordance with company procedures, engineering drawing standards, design intent (fit, form, function), manufacturing & build capability, project costs, timescales, enable downstream automation and quality requirements.
2. Work as part of a multi-discipline team to ensure new and revised component definitions are fit for purpose (meets design intent, manufacturable etc.).
3. Create specialised bespoke CAD models for analysis purposes and the management, update and incorporation of Drawing Alteration Requests.
4. Produce tolerance stack-ups to aid new product creation & validation and to support in-service investigation work.
5. Support the delivery of DD&I Automation Strategy (including Model Based Definition and High Value Digital Design). Actively promote, encourage and support the identification and implementation of continuous improvement (of tools, processes, methods and guidance material).
Who we're looking for:
1. Experienced in using Siemens NX and Teamcenter is essential and Experience in using ISO/British Standard and/or ASME Y14.5M drawing standards is essential.
2. Degree level qualified in a STEM subject and experience in a relevant engineering environment. Other qualifications, in combination with relevant experience, may also be considered.
3. Highly numerate with good technical and analytical skills, problem-solving ability and capable of systems level thinking.
4. Have appropriate engineering experience in conceptual and detail design, detail definition methods and a good understanding of manufacturing techniques.
