Finance Assistant
Location: Southwell
Salary: A£26,000 - A£27,000 per annum
As Finance Assistant, your role is instrumental to the smooth operation of the business, ensuring effective credit control processes are delivered, transactional processing of sales orders/invoices, purchase orders/invoices and bank/cash payments/receipts is accurate and efficient and assisting the Finance Manager as deemed appropriate. You will work closely with every team within the business to ensure a seamless process for all aspects of finance and accounting. You will be detail-driven, able to multi-task across a range of projects and be an experienced self-starter.
As Finance Assistant, you will strive to maintain good relationships with both customers and suppliers, via phone and email communication. Regular use of external portals will be required for some customers. You will have the desire and capability to further develop your finance skills and experience within the role as the company continues to grow. Responsibilities of the Finance Assistant:
1. Supporting the Finance Manager as deemed necessary, including with provision of finance information to assist the business
2. Responsibility for day-to-day credit control management and collection of customer debt
3. Creating new customer and supplier accounts onto Sage
4. Processing sales orders onto Sage
5. Raising sales invoices and applications for payments
6. Uploading invoices onto customer portals as required
7. Raising purchase orders in Sage
8. Inputting supplier invoices, validating nominal coding and matching POD's
9. Processing bank/cash payments and receipts onto Sage
10. Maintaining the Sage system with updates
11. Processing of credit card expenses onto Excel and Sage
12. Keeping product costs up to date on Sage
13. Maintaining the sales orders in spreadsheet
14. Keeping the CRM system up to date
15. Assist with general finance team duties, answering the telephone, filing, and dealing with enquiries both internally and externally
Skills of the Finance Assistant:
1. At least 2 years' relevant recent experience within a company finance team
2. Proven recent experience in credit control responsibility
3. High level of competency with MS Office, notably Excel
4. Desire to advance your finance skills and experience as the role and the company further develops
Experience of the Finance Assistant:
1. Experience using Sage is an advantage or proven work experience on other accounting software
2. AAT or ACCA Level 2 minimum and proven recent experience working in a busy finance team
