We are looking for a dynamic and hard-working Animal Care Assistant.
This position will be primarily to support the Ninja Nurse team whilst working across several departments within the hospital. This will include ward areas, imaging to support patients undergoing sedations and theatre. You will also liaise closely with our flow coordinators to ensure effective time management of clinical cases undergoing procedures. General ACA duties will remain with the care of the patients, infection control, stock control and general maintenance and upkeep of equipment.
This role gives the successful candidate an opportunity to gain an insight into the hospital whilst developing a varied skill set.
The ideal candidate will be able to work well within a team, be self-motivated and able to work using their own initiative. Alongside this they should adapt to new situations with ease, be flexible in approach whilst being an effective communicator.
You will be involved with the teaching of Veterinary and Veterinary Nursing undergraduates on clinical rotations.
This post includes shift work and an OOH weekend rota.
Role summary: Permanent, Full Time- 39.38 hrs per week on average over a 4-week period. 1 in 4 weekends working Saturday and Sunday 8-4.30pm, plus a fair share of BH's.

Principal Accountabilities:
* Assist veterinary surgeons and nurses with clinical procedures and patient handling and restraint.
* Maintain a high level of asepsis throughout the hospital including wards, theatres, and prep rooms and to ensure all areas are adequately stocked with supplies and consumables.
* Communication with the flow coordinators to allow effective time management of patients undergoing imaging.
* Assist the veterinary nurses with inpatient care including feeding, walking, and cleaning of hospitalised animals.
* Assist the veterinary nurses and clinicians within patient procedures such as blood sampling and catheter placement.
* Assist the anaesthesia team with restraint of patients for pre-medication and induction of anaesthesia.
* Assist with the preparation of patients for surgery, to include clipping and skin preparation.
* Assist with the setting up of theatres for surgery, to include damp-dusting theatres, setting up kits, cleaning theatres between surgeries, cleaning and packing instruments.
* Maintaining accurate patient records with regards to all clinical notes, treatment, diagnoses, client communication and client/patient information.
* Maintaining a good working relationship with all team members.
* Communicating in an effective and pleasant manner with clients and colleagues.
* Carry out all other reasonable duties as requested by the Assistant Nursing Manager.
* Responsible for keeping themselves and others safe, reporting accidents, near misses and hazards and adhering to health and safety requirements and policies as required by the business/their line manager.
