This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced pharmacy technician.
This post supports the Operations Manager to deliver high-quality dispensary and distribution services. The successful candidate will lead a team of approximately 35 staff members.
The Royal Cornwall Hospital Pharmacy department has a friendly team of specialised and rotational staff with varying experience. The department is forward-thinking and technologically advanced with full deployment of electronic prescribing and administration in the inpatient and outpatient setting as well as fully automated dispensing including remote access.
Main duties of the job
1. Managing the supply services resources including staff, equipment, and budget.
2. Managing the rotas for allocated pharmacy staff to ensure adequate cover in all areas of the pharmacy department by working closely with other pharmacy section leads.
3. Dispensing for inpatients, outpatients, and discharges.
4. Assisting in the supply of stock medicines both within and outside the Trust.
5. Undertaking final checking activities for use by named patients.
6. Taking responsibility for own Health and Safety and that of others.
7. Responsible for the recruitment and retention of staff within supply services.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Pharmacy Technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* Postgraduate level qualification in Pharmaceutical Sciences or relevant subject (e.g., Business administration) or equivalent experience in management, for example: Change management experience, Project management, etc.
* NVQ Level 4 in Management or equivalent knowledge and experience in Pharmacy management
* Accredited Checking Technician (to achieve within the first 12 months)
* Formal leadership training & qualification
Experience
* Substantial experience in hospital post-qualification
* Effective management of staff
* Interview and recruitment experience
* Previous experience of training staff
* Previous experience of NHS Pharmacy senior management role
* Preparing for inspections and inspection visits
