Legal Counsel

As a member of the Legal Team, you will work across all the Stark UK businesses, supporting our business in the UK and Jersey, as well as assisting the more senior members of the legal team and supervising and developing more junior members of the team.
What you’ll be doing:
* Provide day-to-day support to both Senior Legal Counsel.
* Supervise and instruct the Legal Assistant to support the legal team.
* Advise and support the Stark UK business on all types of commercial contracts.
* Support with any M&A activity including acquisitions and disposals.
* Advise on disputes and dispute resolution strategies.
* Assist in delivering the Stark UK Strategy.
* Engage closely with the business for decision making and strategic planning.
* Create standard template agreements.
* Create and improve working processes.
* Provide legal training and workshops to the Stark UK business.
* Work closely with the Group legal team to obtain approvals and implement Group instructions where required.
* Work closely with the UK compliance team to assist with legal compliance.
* Instruct and proactively manage external counsel.
* Develop self-help tools and guidance for the business on key legal contracts.
What you’ll need to have:
* UK qualified solicitor – 2+ years PQE.
* Training and previous experience in reviewing, drafting and advising on a wide range of commercial contracts within a respectable in-house role or law firm.
* Experienced adviser on a broad range of legal matters including corporate, IT, commercial and data protection law.
* Strong influencing, negotiation, and persuasion skills, able to balance legal and commercial requirements; comfortable with executing on calculated risk.
* Genuine interest in the broader commercial context, thinks about the business strategically and interested in understanding and learning what others do in the market.
* Ability to prioritise and manage deadlines.
* Dedicated team player, able to consider wider team and business needs and objectives.
* Understanding of organisational and cultural sensitivity.
* An ambassador for the legal team across the STARK Group.
* High personal standards of integrity and honesty.
* Ability to identify legal risk and opportunities, adapt or develop compliance practices and demonstrable communication skills.
* Demonstrable experience of working with all levels of stakeholders in a large corporate (including the executive leadership team).
* Good understanding of the evolving regulations to be able to provide effective advice to the business.
* Self-motivated, ambitious, team player with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong attention to detail as well as a commercial mindset with an ability to explain matters clearly and simply to non-legal stakeholders.
* Ability to think freely and support the Legal Team and the business in finding effective solutions.
