Azure Security Engineer
£65,000 - £74,500 + bonus + benefits
Location: Southampton (3 days a week in-office, remote working the rest of the time)
My client, a leader in the provision of equipment manufacturing to customers in the Water industry, is experiencing rapid growth and is recruiting for an experienced Azure Security Engineer to audit and continually secure their evolving infrastructure following a series of mergers and acquisitions.
The initial focus of the role will be to audit/perform gap analysis on the current infrastructure, identifying security risks and mitigating these using Azure Security Centre and PowerShell scripting. The company aims to be 100% cloud-based in the next year and does not require traditional Windows system administration skills as these are already covered by the existing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Azure Security Engineer to help shape the evolving Azure Security function as the company continues to grow.
Responsibilities:
1. Design, deploy, and manage Azure cloud infrastructure and security controls for cloud-based environments, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions.
2. Implement and maintain virtual networks, storage accounts, and other Azure resources.
3. Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans, and monitor/respond to security incidents and alerts.
4. Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
5. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
6. Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
7. Work closely with development, operations, and IT teams to integrate security into the DevOps process.
8. Provide guidance and support on security best practices.
Essential Skills:
1. Proven experience with Microsoft Azure services and security features.
2. Deep understanding of Azure networking concepts, security services (Azure Compute, Storage, Networking, and Databases), and Azure security best practices.
3. Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate, CSSP, CISSP, or CEH.
4. Demonstrable experience in cybersecurity and cloud engineering.
5. Hands-on experience with security tools and technologies (e.g., XDR, NDR, IDS/IPS, SIEM).
6. Strong understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.
7. Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Azure CLI).
8. Knowledge of virtual networks and VPN gateways.
9. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
10. Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Desirable Skills:
1. Experience with Azure Sentinel and Azure Key Vault.
2. Knowledge of Azure DevOps.
3. Skills in containerization.
4. Knowledge of Azure Data Lake and Azure IoT Hub is a bonus, along with familiarity with Azure API tooling.
