Assistant Production Manager Why join Marshall in this role? Marshall Slingsby Advanced Composites is based in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, where it produces complex composite structures that are predominantly used to manufacture vital parts on ships, submarines and aircraft. Purpose of the position The purpose of the role is to work closely with the Production Managers to ensure that the customers receive a high-quality product in line with process and product specification and that the company operates in a safe environment, has a skilled and competent team which is effectively managed and working to achieve the company objectives in line with the SCCDP philosophy. Accountability The role is accountable for an allocated area of production. This includes identifying resource requirements, management of a team and their training / development needs, ensuring that appropriate documentation including processes and procedures are in place and or developed when needed and the delivery of product to an agreed schedule and quality. Responsibilities: Delegated responsibility during annual leave or other absence for Operational team members / shared departmental resources (cell coordinators, Cell Leaders, Team Leaders). Safety – to contribute to a safe culture by ensuring a safe working environment and that all processes and regulations are adhered to. Quality –. To adhere to all required Quality Standards, driving thorough Root Cause Analysis and MRB activities where needed. Cost – to work in ways which avoid unnecessary cost and waste and use the resources to the maximum potential. Delivery – to ensure customer delivery dates are achieved and are in line with requirements. People – to work in accordance with company values and effectively and fairly manage the team. Continuous Improvement – to identify and implement improvements and be adaptable to change. Tasks: To effectively manage the team and resources to meet set KPI’s. To manage and keep to a minimum any scrap and rework activities To outline and clearly justify any cap-ex spend. To use statistical data to measure performance of the area To clearly communicate operational objectives / targets on daily / weekly/ monthly/ annual basis To identify any divergence from budget and form a recovery plan. To lead, manage and motivate a team of individuals in line with company procedures. To ensure members of the team are sufficiently trained and are competent. To communicate effectively with direct team and wider company, attending standard meetings when required To be involved with future activities including bib /no bid, contract reviews etc To be involved in customer visits and review meetings To encourage a culture of continuous improvement and lead by example.
