The post holder will be required to assist in all clinical aspects and the running of an efficient diagnostic outpatient facility. The Lung Function department is very proactive and focused on the delivery of the best patient experience. The post holder will undertake spirometry testing as well as other basic lung function measurements. This includes the issue and downloading of sleep study equipment. Undertake/perform Spirometry with interpretation; Undertake basic sleep diagnostic set up and downloading (e.g. Overnight Oximetry and Polygraphy; To support Respiratory Physiologists with advanced procedures. To provide accurate results on all procedures listed above for interpretation by more senior colleagues. To develop and maintain knowledge and clinical skills. To assist in other procedures performed within the Lung Function department and local health economy. To support the clinical lead in the overall delivery of patient focused services. To support the clinical lead in the routine management and administrative functions of the department. To assist in the purchase of consumables and equipment and monitoring of stock levels of the department. To ensure that data is collected accurately and in a timely manner. As a valued member of the team the post holder would be expected to propose changes to existing procedures within their area for the improvement and development of the service. The post holder would implement any new policies, procedures and SOPs within own area. To undertake a personal development programme. To undertake Trust mandatory training on an annual basis, or as and when required To undertake additional training in order to perform duties of the post. To adopt a professional and flexible approach to the needs of the Respiratory Department and those of the Trust. To use and maintain information systems. To undertake other appropriate duties as requested. To keep senior staff informed of all matters, which may affect the functioning of the service. To maintain confidentiality of all information obtained and disclose this information only to authorised officers. To be familiar and adhere to all trust policies and procedures as they relate to the role.
