The Role
This is a senior role in the BSB’s Strategy, Policy and Insights team, reporting to the Head of Policy. The post holder will be responsible for leading the development, design and delivery of key policies in line with BSB’s current and future Strategic Plan, and to improve the legal services market in England and Wales in public interest.
This will include setting and maintaining high professional standards for Barristers through revisions and day to day operation of the BSB Handbook, providing policy support to the authorisations team and continually building an understanding of emerging opportunities and challenges in the legal services sector.
Key responsibilities of the post:
* Leading a review of the BSB’s Entities Statement and supporting regulatory arrangements
* Developing responses to policy inquiries related to the BSB Handbook and supporting information
* Supporting with other policy work as required
* Line managing a Senior Policy Officer
* Providing support to the Head of Policy and Director of Strategy, Policy and Insight as required
Key skills and experience required include:
* Good understanding of professional regulation, preferably legal services
* Excellent analytical and project management skills
* Excellent communication and drafting skills, including written and presentation skills
* Able to work independently and in matrix working arrangements
* Good time management skills
