About the Role
The responsibilities of a District Nurse is to provide clinical care in the home or clinic settings. This includes wound care for postoperative acute wounds, chronic wounds, urinary catheter care including assessment for, and the prevention of, complications, replacement of male, female and supra-pubic catheters, compression bandaging, management of negative pressure wound therapy, as well as management of surgical, nephrostomy and pleural drains. The work is varied, rewarding and interesting. If you have not previously worked in the community environment, this a wonderful opportunity to support our community to understand and manage their health requirements.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The wider Community Nursing Service teams consist of the District Nursing teams in Napier and Hastings, the Continence, Ostomy, Better Breathing Hawkes Bay (providing respiratory and heart failure rehabilitation and Community Oxygen Therapy) and the Wound and Community Clinical Nurse Specialist teams, as well as Clinical Nurse Coordinators, Health Care Assistants and administration team support. The services are based at Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital and Napier Health Centre, requiring you to work from the both bases. Referrals are received from primary, secondary and tertiary health sectors.

* Previous experience working in a health care setting
* Full unendorsed drivers’ licence
* Reliable and trustworthy
* Previous experience working within a team
* Ability to work autonomously in a variety of settings
